Human beings have two fighting spirits within them; the good and the dark. However, the temperament of a person depends on how such traits are molded. For instance, human beings can be creative, intelligent, kind, decent, loving, or progressive. On the order side, humans can have the darker side; characterized by evils and sins that are present shamefully and disastrously in all sections of life. In the story, ‘'Lord of the Flies', their boys are divided along that binary. The group led by Ralph that includes Piggy, Simon, and twins Sam and Eric are depicted be good. They envisioned a united approach to the challenges that they were facing and as such established a society. They embraced love and semblance of order in the jungle. However, Jack is antagonistic. He led a rival group of boys who wanted to overdraw Ralph, as the overall leader. While maintaining the smoke to attract potential rescuers at the beach, Jack manipulated the boys to advance his greed for leadership. Ignorance and envy drove the boys into killing others like Simon and hurting the twins. Therefore, life is fundamentally savage.
