In my opinion, the two month summer vacation brings harmful effects on student's learning. It breaks the rhythm of concentration, leads to forgetting, and requires a significant amount of review of learning material when students resume to school. Also, the summer break can have a huge negative effect on the learning of children with special educational needs.
Summer break leads to a discontinuity in the construction and learning process of students. According to research 95% of students show a decline in their class performance after returning to school from the 2 month summer break. Many are absent minded and remember very little about school. Summer breaks really affects students in their class performance.
When it comes to children with special educational needs and disabilities like the blind, summer breaks too have a negative effect. Some come back to school with very little knowledge on how they used to do things. Research shows that other challenged children like the slow learners return with zero remembrance of what they learnt previously at school. Summer breaks extremely affect the special children in school.
It is completely evident that two month summer breaks negatively affect both the high and average children in class. This calls upon minimization of those summer breaks and vacations in order to ensure continuity in the learning process of those children andan easy time for their teachers and coaches.
