Identify any five fundamental elements of design and explain how they influence the design process
The elements of design are the fundamental aspects of any visual design which include shape, color, space, form, line, value, and texture. Graphic designers use the elements of design to create an image that can convey a certain mood, draw the eye in a certain direction, or evoke a number of feelings. They include;
a] Line - It involves the graphic unifier, curved, straight. Directional thrust: Horizontal, Vertical, and Diagonal.
b] Shape - it can be naturalistic, geometric. (The Golden Mean)
c] Space / Size - it is either Large, Medium, Small. The proportion of Scale. (The Golden Mean)(Perspective)
d] Value - Can either be Light or Dark. (Value Patterns)(Arial Perspective)
e] Color - It is divided into hue, chroma, and value. (The Color Wheel)
f] Texture - can be rough, smooth, soft, hard.
