Parents should have a say in what their children study at university level”. Argue for and against this statement.
Without question, all parents want the best in life for their children. Every parent’s dream is to see their child soar and succeed in life. Therefore, parents should have a say in what their children study at university level because may be they have a friend who can connect their child with a job of the course they are encouraging them to study. Parents should also be allowed to have a say in what their children study in university level because they have been interacting with the kids since their early stages of development and therefore they know the kind of specialization their kids can do better in.
On the other hand, I disagree with the argument that parents should have a say in what their children study in university level because at that level children are now adults and are in a position to make decisions on their own without the help of parents. In addition, children at this age know very well what they are able to do without struggling. In conclusion, a child should be given the right to choose the course of his or her choice. You shouldn't decide which course he or she should pursue, as this would be spoon feeding them.
