The seven educator roles are: specialist in a phase, subject or practice; learning mediator; interpreter and designer of learning programmes and materials; leader, administrator and manager; scholar, researcher and lifelong learner; assessor; and a community, citizenship and pastoral role.

The above roles have been adversely affected by the pandemic as explained in the article. For instance, the role of a teacher as a learning mediator has been taken away since during the pandemic students learn virtually and they cannot interact with their teachers directly.
