If you could travel back in time, I'd like to see the Stone Age's first technological era of material progress. I'd learn to carve stone into instruments for hunting, food preparation, self-defense, and building structures and monuments that served as astronomical calendars and spiritual centers. The period was more technologically advanced than the one before it. Today, this is considered as an oversimplification that prioritizes technological advancement over other elements such as language, agriculture, and society. The introduction of bronze metallurgy as a new technique for tools and weapons, for example, would practically render this element of stone useless. Furthermore, the discovery of commodities such as bronze artefact hoards suggests that the material symbolized riches in the form of stored value as well as rank.
