There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn't.” ― John Green, Turtles All the Way Down Using the quote above as a point of departure, and your understanding of mental health, do you agree with the quote above? Mental health is an important issue today, and many healthcare facilities and public health departments emphasize its importance. Under normal circumstances, there are challenging moments that people pass through, and the easy way out is to give up (Yang & Jackson, 1998). Such cases often lead to deep thoughts that could negatively impact the minds of people. The brain plays a vital role in perceiving things around us, and in difficult situations, it tells us to give up since it only focuses on the negative sides of the story. According to the famous psychological sayings, the mind is not a vessel to be filled, but it is a fire to be ignited. This means that what you feed the mind will produce (Seraceno et al., 2007). The above statement is true since the brain could tell one that there is no hope based on immediate experiences, but if one chooses not to give up, it ends well, and one succeed in their endeavors. All it requires is resilience in challenging situations.
In the course of my studies, there are many times I felt like giving in to negative thoughts about particular disciplines, but I was inspired by the students who were doing well in those disciplines. I found a way of reaching out and learning a few tricks for the disciplines, and it was not long before I started doing well. In this case, I trained my mind not to give in to the hard times and instead seek new ways of doing things and attract success (Amri & Bemak, 2013).
