Evaluate the challenges facing water resources in Africa
Evaluate challenges facing water sources in Africa
The African continent has abundant sources of water. Many Africans use groundwater as their main source of water. The continent continues to experience serious climate challenges that have led to dwindling water levels. Human activity possess one of the greatest challenges to Africa’s water sources. Human activities like deforestation, urban growth, pollution, and sedimentation pose a threat to Africa’s water sources (Jones & Walt, 2004). These human activities have led to decline in water levels in Africa’s rivers and other water sources. Some residents of Africa do not understand the negative impacts of their actions like pollution on water sources. Climate change is another serious challenge facing water sources in Africa. The continent experiences periodic droughts and floods. Climate change is expected to make water scarce in Africa. Africa should world towards creating sustainable water practices. The continent should be serious in enacting and enforcing measures meant to protect water sources.
