Identity cultural features that have an influence on the teaching- learning process
Culture can be considered as a background frame of mind on which new learning is learned and meant for, like a new painting on a blank image. Cultural features that have an influence on the learning and teaching process are; artifacts, symbols, and practices; art and architecture; language, color, and dress; and social etiquette and traditions.
Artifacts for example influence the teaching-learning process by giving learners a clear picture of different items that were used by different cultures such as pots and clothing. Similarly, dress code as another cultural feature influences the learning-teaching process by students and teachers being able to know different dress codes from people of different cultures.
Lastly, it is important to know that child learning is culturally determined and therefore our culture teaches us how to think. Through cultural beliefs students and learners know how learning occurs, in other words ‘what to learn’ and ‘how to learn’ are culturally based. The need for learning is also culturally determined that is culture determines how to think and learn. The feedback process during learning is also culturally influenced.
