Transformation as a process of transmutation from one state to another can apply to an individual or an organization or the product or service supplied by the organization. When related to higher education, transformation usually refers to the transformation of the student via learning or the transformation of the so that it is better able to provide transformative outcomes, that is, transformative learning or research. In South Africa, transformation has a particular meaning related to the political transformation of society: higher education having a transformative role in moving from apartheid to an inclusive society.

In literature there are some studies defining the curriculum implementation approaches of teachers. According to Snyder, Bolin and Zumwalt teachers have three different approaches: fidelity, mutual adaptation and enactment.Helps to give learners the appropriate/ relevant content with the application of the learner's environment in order to make learning real. - It helps to ensure that the set goals and objectives are achieved. - It enables effective/ proper assessment and evaluation of the curriculum.

The outcomes-based approach is completely student-centred, which focuses on what students know and can actually do. Sharpening the focus onto student learning outcomes goes beyond mere tinkering with traditional structures and methods; it really constitutes a paradigm shift in educational philosophy and practice
