According to the YouTube video ‘The Lorax’, the condition of the environment towards the end of the movie can be described as deteriorated compared to the beginning. There is evident of environmental degradation towards the end which is the deterioration of the environment through depletion of resources such as quality of air, water and soil; the destruction of ecosystems; habitat destruction; the extinction of wildlife and pollution.

To the end of the movie greed enters man whereby he invades and exploits the environmental resources such as trees, soil and water for his own benefits that generates him money. Man, massively chops down trees thus, deforestation, cuts down the green grasses and build statures such as shops and companies that further exploits more environmental resources for business purposes leading to environmental pollution. He makes money generating items such as pillows and curtains to further his environmental destructive activities. Man is using vehicles that contributes to air pollution and suppress vegetation growth. The company activities are leading to water and air pollution. There is evidence of birds’ migration as a result of environmental pollution and habitat destruction.

In the beginning the environment was greener and rich in trees, grasses, ever singing birds, flowing river, animals and fish in the water bodies. The water bodies were fresh and habited with water animals such as fish the air was fresh and the soil was fertile. Generally, the environment was healthy with a balanced ecosystem.

From the movie the lesson learnt is that nothing will get better unless somebody acts towards restoring the environment to its original nature. This can be achieved through environmental conservation practices such as planting of tress, cleaning our water bodies and formulating policies that are environmental sensitive. The environment is our home and its our responsibility to protect it.
