Explain what Lorax means when he says “I speak for the trees?”

The lorax speaks for the trees as a way of protecting and restoring the beauty of the environment. He doesn't want anything happening to the environment growth. The lorax is trying to protect the environment. His voice raises much concern on the degrading nature of the environment which needed a lot of emphasis to establish.
