Learner-centered education, also known as student-centered learning, refers to instructional strategies that shift the focus of instruction away from the teacher and toward the student. Although the teacher retains authority, both students and teachers are equally involved in the learning process. The teacher's primary purpose is to guide and assist students in learning and comprehending the subject material. Students can benefit from and collaborate with one another. Teachers, of course, have the competence and responsibility to share their knowledge, but they can also learn from pupils.

If students are imaginative, they can come up with ways to introduce a topic that includes them in the process. The teacher does not have to dominate the portrayal of the topic. Students learn via doing, and technology, particularly mobile phones and tablets, which are easier to grasp and use than computers, can significantly increase student engagement and motivation.
