In schools, PLCs move the emphasis from teaching to learning. Teachers collaborate to improve classroom instruction. Intervention, rather than remediation, is used to assist pupils who are struggling. Teachers are trained in three waves over the course of the year, with follow-up training planned for the following years. Although I believe that teacher collaboration has long-term benefits for kids, maintaining a general commitment to the curriculum has proven difficult. Teachers will invest in their profession by learning more about it, implementing new ideas, and supporting one another. These can create their own professional learning communities, and a school may have numerous groups that consolidate around the goal of improving education through cooperation. PLCs do not have to be limited to teachers; they can include administrators, parents, and community people that support their school. The idea is to match everyone's passions and skills to the school's vision and goals.
