Social media has become a frequency for throwing racial slurs and people from different orientation backgrounds projecting their superiority of their race above others. There has been a surge in the number of high profile incidents of racism being expressed via social media.
Social media is also being used to speak up about racism and against it trough criticism of the government and law enforcement agencies. Twitter, for instance, has been used extensively to speak up against racism. For example the recent campaigns on twitter such as '#BlackLivesMatter#' and '#TakeAKnee#''. Most of these campaigns that began through a hashtag have been motivated by real life experiences which are now active movements speaking up about equality and justice for all, no matter the color.
