4. These are the changes that a pregnant woman's body goes through during pregnancy to accommodate the growing embryo or fetus. These physiologic changes include behavioral (brain), cardiovascular (heart and blood vessels), hematologic (blood), metabolic, renal (kidney), posture, and respiratory (breathing) changes. Blood sugar, breathing, and cardiac output all increase.
