According to Locke and the Blank Slate theory, it is believed that during the birth of a human being the state of his or her mind is in “Blank Slate”. This means that their state of mind at birth is incapable of data processing. After birth what is responsible in shaping the development of the child is immaterial and/or material as well as external environment. All these are responsible for the child’s development. In my view, Locke’s believes are unfounded since it contradicts cultural universals, common sense, and studies of science involving twins which have compelling proof to dispute the theory.
