[a] A learning center is normally a labeled area within the classroom that provides students with stimulating and remarkable capabilities to practice, improve, reteach, and boost their learning. These types of centers are filled with scheming, art materials, books, and other instructional tools. Students visit the centers to complete a task or learn through different activities.
As a teacher, I can apply a learning center in my classroom by first preparing the centers. The centers can be used for any subject but experiments should be the focus. After being done with the preparation of the centers, I would then gather the students’ materials which I would arrange neatly in one place to avoid misplacement of the materials.
Finally, I would set up my classroom whereby the setup will depend on my students’ number.
[b] As a teacher I plan on using learning centers due to the following reasons;
Firstly, by using learning centers I get time to interact one on one with my students and this will help me to check in with each one of them and point out any correction they need to make which would improve their performance.
Secondly, learning centers make students be creative and impressed. Although creativity can be achieved in the classroom learning centers exposes learners to creative activities in great percentages.
Lastly, I would prefer using learning centers because students can repeat in-class activities during their free time. This would be important because some students need this repetition for them to understand the information which the teacher was trying to pass across.
[c] Well-designed centers activities accommodate different learning styles and allow students to guide themselves as they apply skills and strategies in fun and engaging ways. They also create a time for both the teacher and the learner to interact fully with each other and this gives the teacher a chance to get to know where the content he/she was trying to pass across has not been understood. And finally, centers allow teachers to lecture the distinct needs of small groups of students.
