as the public relations officer of the student representatives council (SRC) at your university, you have been tasked to compile a communication plan for a campaign that will be used to explain the role of the SRC to first year students. choose any one of the communication models explained in the presentation and explain how such a communication plan could be guided by your chosen model.
A Student Representative Council (SRC) is a group of students elected by their peers to represent all students within the school. A communication plan defines who should be given specific information, when that information should be delivered and what communication channels will be used to deliver the information.
As a public relations officer of the SRC, I would use the transactional model of communication in my communication plan. In this model, communication is seen as an ongoing, circular process. The model has a number of interdependent components and processes, including the decoding and encoding processes, the communicator, the message and the channel.
To compile my communication plan, I will establish the goals for my communication plan, identify the key messages and audience, create a tactical outreach plan, develop materials that I will use to convey the messages to the audience, specify a timeline and finally implement my action plan.
The transactional model will help to guide my communication plan in identifying the messages, channels of communication and also my audience.
