The first type is teacher-student relationship. It is believed to constitute of a community of learners who engage in social discourse. Teachers are seen as facilitators who guide and enrich children's learning activities, with students serving as co-contributors to the learning process.
The second is teacher-staff relationship
This is a teachers' relationships with their peers, other school staff, and school administrators.
The third type is teacher-parent relationship
Teacher-parent relationships impact students' learning and well-being and many teachers attempt to involve parents in school management or classroom activities.
Covid-19 has affected these relationships in the following ways;
The emotional cues tied to building and strengthening teacher-student bonds is diminishing.
Teachers are not able to interact with their fellow staff members and be able to help each other tackle and solve problems together.
The teacher-parent relationship has been affected in that teachers cannot be able to interact with parents during class activities and also in reporting a students' progress in class.
Solutions suggested include;
Mapping out student relationships with teachers.One low-cost approach is relationship mapping, a strategy that helps schools ensure that all students have a positive, stable relationship with at least one teacher in school.
Regular emotional check-ins where teachers get a read on how students are feeling and what is going on in their lives beyond their computer camera is an effective relationship-building strategy that can easily shift from in-person to remote classes or be done under a hybrid schedule.
To embrace the “new normal” together, teachers can create a sense of community for both students and their parents. Group emails, interactive activities, zoom meetings, and town hall meetings are all ways teachers can help to facilitate an open dialogue and feeling of community among their students and their parents at a distance.
