1) Transnationalism is referred to as diffusion and extension of political, economic and political processes in between and beyond the sovereign boundaries of states.
Its role is to connect people and communities across borders and also to bring social, political, cultural and economic change to societies.
Its influence in comprehension is that through its fields in social and sociolinguistic studies of language, it informs and extends the field of literacy research. It influences discussions on how language is inter-wined with issues of mobility and cross-border relations.
2) Reader-response theory focuses on the reader and his or her experience of literary work.
Its view is that a reader does not passively consume meaning presented to him or her by an objective literary text but he or she actively makes the meaning they find in literature. Secondly, the role of the reader cannot be omitted from our understanding of it.
Its implications is that a reader conceptualizes own and deeper meanings in literature and is also able to interpret texts in various ways.
3a) Students can make connections, visualize meanings and also make predictions of the text.
b) In encouraging learners to ask questions, I will activate background knowledge related to the text by completing a Know, Want to Know, and Learned column chart. To encourage questions, pair students up and have them generate questions about the text, discuss ideas they have had about the text or things they think are important within it. Provide a list of questions for discussion to lead their conversation. Questions should be open-ended to invite various interpretations of the text. In this case, the learners will be ready and willing to ask questions.
