Learning is the process of acquiring new understanding, knowledge, behaviours, skills, values, attitudes and preferences. The result of the learning process is a relatively permanent change in the way of perceiving things and behaviours (Figurska & Sokol 2016). Define the terms “incidental” and “explicit” learning and provide an example relating to each term. (6) 1.2 Read the following case study and then answer the question below: As a Foundation Phase teacher, you want to expose your learners to different genres (i.e. types) of texts. you want a text that will present fun information, rather than one that will present informative ideas in a fun way. In addition, you want text to include visual illustrations to assist your learners in understanding the information presented to them. Write a short story of at least three paragraphs that you could read to your Grade 1 class based on the above case study. It should have (i) an introduction (4) (ii) a body (6) (iii) a conclusion (4)
Incidental earning is a kind of unplanned in unintended learning. It is developed when learners are engaged in an activity or tasks. For example spending time in a different country where the language used is different could force one to learning the vocabulary randomly. On the other hand, intentional learning is one in which students learn one stimulus feature while concentrating in another stimulus feature as well.
