Bullying refers to intimidating someone who is considered vulnerable. In schools, bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated or has the potential to be repeated over time. An example of bullying in school is one student commenting negatively on the body physique and looks of a fellow student.

Bullying has negative impacts on both kids who are bullied and the ones who bully others. The kids who are bullied are most likely to experience depression and anxiety, health complaints, decreased academic achievements, increased feelings of sadness and loneliness and loss of interest in the activities they used to enjoy. Kids who bully others are also most likely to abuse alcohol and other drugs, get into fights, vandalize property and engage into early sexual activities.

There are various strategies that can be put in place to prevent bullying in school. Some of these include;

• Parents teaching their children on how to handle being bullied
• Encouraging the students to report any form of bullying to a teacher, parent or an adult they trust.
• Teachers and school administration setting positive expectations about behavior for students.
• Advising the students not to bully back when they are bullied since two wrongs don't make a right.
• Advising the students to avoid being alone.
