It is almost impossible to predict exactly what effects an individual victim [of crime]
will suffer. People react very differently to similar offences and where one person may
be seriously affected, another might experience only minor or short-term effects.
Those who are more vulnerable (such as people who are poor, live in deprived areas
or have other life stressors) and those who have been previously victimised are more
likely to find a greater impact on them.

on victims?, International Review of Victimology, vol. 14, p.182.
1.1 With reference to TEXT A, discuss AT LEAST THREE causes and three effects
of crime in a country of your choice.
In America, there are various causes and effects of crime. Social status is a major course of crime in the United States of America. From the past statistics, regions of lower economic status have witnessed high crime rates as compared to areas of high economic status. Additionally, drugs are a major cause of crime since gangs fight each other for dominance. Lastly, racism and inequality largely contributes to crime.
Effects of crime include homelessness due to displacement of populations, insecurity and increase in number of orphans.
