During the Life Skills period, Miss Mogatsi takes her Grade 2 class out for some exercise. She asks the learners to run the length of the playing field for 3 minutes as a warm-up exercise. Then she asks them to run up and down a flight of steps. She notices that Lerato tires before she finishes going up and down the steps. Hlengiwe, Lerato’s friend, stayed in the classroom because she had not finished colouring her homework project, complaining that her fingers were tired. What skills are Lerato and Hlengiwe each lacking? Provide reasons for your answer
Focus - both learners lack a sense of focus, having the ability to finish tasks assigned to them.
Engaged learning- Hlengiwe is not able to complete his assignment, blaming it on fatigue.
Resilience - both students are not able to cope or treat their challenges as opportunities or experiences.
Creative thinking- to be a successful student, one has to develop the ability to think in unusual and different ways to find solutions to their problems, a quality lacking in both learners.
