Three examples of how the concept of africanizisation can be applied in foundation phase classroom
Africanization means embracing African heritage and developing a sense of loyalty towards Africa. With regards to education, the concept of Africanization can be applied to the educational institutions, curriculum, syllabus and criteria for excellence.
Africanization of the curriculum can be done through the adaptation of the subject matter, teaching methods and texts to the physical and cultural realities of the African environment.
Research should also support Africanization of academic materials so as to ensure a high quality, scientifically sound knowledge and skills base.
Africanization of the syllabus can be achieved through providing educational experiences relevant to the traditions and cultural values of the African people.
