What is the difference between homonyms and polysemous words? Give suitable
examples in your language.
Homonyms are words that are pronounced and spelled the same but have different meanings for example "bark" can either mean the bark of a tree or sound produced by a dog. On the other hand, polysemous words have multiple meanings. For example the word "advance" can either mean moving forward, to issue something before the agreed time, or to attack. Unless used contextually polysemous words can introduce ambiguity in a sentence since some meanings are significantly close.
