His voice has a neediness to it, as well as anxiety. It's as though he expects his wife to carry on some nefarious schemes to aid Macbeth's ascension to the throne. The tone of the letter accurately reflects the nature of their relationship: In the friendship, L. Macbeth is the "skirts."

The three witches are the main characters in this first scene, and the atmosphere is ominous and supernatural, set well away from civilisation (Smith, 2016). The stage for the rest of the play is set in this first scene.

Macbeth's hallucinations had an effect on his mental health, but his need for dominance is the turning point of his decline. Macbeth's need for dominance leads him to commit murder three times during the play, and his lust for power ultimately leads to his death.
