Wellness can be defined as the active progression of being aware and making the right choices towards a healthy and satisfying life. Wellness is rather an active process of change and growth than just a feeling of being free from illness. It is characterized by happiness, health and success.
There are various dimensions of wellness including;
- Intellectual – this implies the ability to identify exclusive personal talents and seeking out ways to use the knowledge and skills. It will involve participation in activities that support mental growth.
- Environmental – the dimension is related to the surroundings. Overall wellness is attributed to the health of the surrounding environment. The social and natural environments highly impact on personal feelings and eventually affects wellness.
- Emotional – this is the ability to effectively deal with life and shape a substantial relationship with others. Healthy emotional wellness contributes to a feeling of confidentiality and control over feelings and behaviors which is essential in handling challenges in life.
