The digital divide is the gap created due to inequalities in access to communication facilities. Income is a factor that contributes to increasing this divide as people with higher incomes tend to live in urban areas that have a more top connection to bandwidth. People with lower incomes cannot easily purchase the most modern technology and phones, therefore, increasing the digital divide. To solve this problem, the government of South Africa should invest in telecommunication companies and subsidize the cost of installing bandwidth across the country to reach lower-income householdsÂ
