The social class entails people who share a similar status, often defined by their levels of power and wealth. Sociologists believe that a person can achieve a higher social class than that which they were born in since social class does not depend on birth. Rather it depends on other factors such as education or succeeding in one's area of specialty. For example, a person born from a low-income family might excel in their education or through talent and end up achieving a higher social status. Therefore justifying the statement that Social class is 'achieved' rather than 'given' at birth?
