A sample of weak acid (HA) is dissolved in water and then is divided into two equal-volume portions. One portion is then titrated with a sodium hydroxide solution to the phenolphthalein endpoint, thereby converting all HA molecules present into A- ions. The two portions are then mixed, so as to form a half-titrated sample, and the pH of the combined solution is measured and found to be 4.52
