A type of bond which involves electron pair sharing between two atoms is called covalent bond. There are two types of covalent bonds, depending on the polarity of bond:

  1. polar covalent bond - where two different nonmetals with different electronegativity share electron pair to form the bond;
  2. nonpolar covalent bond is between two the same nonmetals with the same electronegativity, for example Cl-Cl, F-F, H-H and etc.
