The nature of the Gibbs energy change gives an indication of the direction of spontaneously proceeding processes in isolated and closed systems. When ∆G<0, the process can proceed, at ∆G>0, the process processes spontaneously in opposite way (in other words, if the Gibbs energy in the initial state of the system is greater than at the end, the process can take place if on the contrary - it may not) . If ∆G = 0, then the system is in a state of chemical equilibrium.
