Why do the nails corrode at points of stress? Can you tell where the stress points are? What is the cause of the stress?

Corrosion will occur at the bent portion of the nail and at the head and point of the nail (nails are formed from a wire by applying stress). ... The zinc is more active than iron, so the zinc will corrode first, protecting the nail from corrosion.
