Write a claim evidence reading, what intermolecular forcess exist in water, isopropyl alcohol and glycerin?
With this hydrogen bond, the hydrogen from the isopropanol model is bonding with oxygen from the water molecule. This dipole-dipole bonding is showing the positive hydrogen bonding with the negative from the oxygen. Lastly, london dispersion is bonding the isopropanol and water because they are adjacent to each other.
Glycerine, water and methylated spirits have hydrogen bonds between the molecules. However, in water and glycerine these intermolecular forces are very strong while in the methylated spirits they are slightly weaker. This leads to the higher boiling point for water and glycerine.1
