Carbon in a chemical bond will most likely act similar to Silicon, a non metallic element in the same period with Carbon.

Both carbon and silicon commonly form compounds, easily sharing electrons with other elements. Silicon like carbon can form double bonds that are however not as stable as Carbon's. However, Silicon can also form silicon polymers, which are silicon and oxygen structures.
