A wave is a disturbance that carries energy from one place to another. A wave does not take the matter with it. A wave instead moves the matter as it goes through it. Waves come in two forms, namely Transverse and longitudinal. A transverse wave moves the medium perpendicular to the wave motion, and a longitudinal wave moves the medium parallel to the wave motion. Therefore, examples of waves include sound waves, radio waves, and water waves.
