The halophytic have maximum osmotic pressure compared to xerophytes because the halophytic grow on saline soils and they must have maximum osmotic pressure to be able to obtain water from the soil. Osmotic pressure in the cells of halophytes is bigger than in the soil where they grow, it creates a gradient along which water moves. Xerophytes don't need suc gradient because the soil they are in is not saline so they do not have such a high osmotic pressure.
