Explain the difference between prokaryotic and eukaryotic transcription. In 3-4 sentence
Prokaryotes contain three different promoter elements (-10, -35 promoters, and upstream elements) while eukaryotes have many different promoter elements (i.e., TATA box, initiator elements, downstream core promoter element, CAAT box, the GC box, etc.). Eukaryotes contain three types of RNA polymerases, while prokaryotes have only one type. Eukaryotes form an initiation complex with multiple transcription factors that dissociate after initiation is completed, while prokaryotes do not have this structure.
