Question #165598

What is a frequency distribution? Explain how the graph is made for a quantitative trait that is continuous.

Expert's answer

The continuous variation for complex traits is caused by genetic complexity and environmental sensitivity. Polygenic traits are usually expressed as continuous data, for which a statistical distribution is best graphically expressed as a normal distribution of possible theoretical values of the measurements - frequency distribution. This graph represents the frequency (number) of a certain trait showing it as a continuum. It describes the distribution of individuals among categories by their frequencies.
