Proton transfers occur efficiently from groups with low pKa values to those of higher values. During enzymatic catalysis protons transfer with a help of the coenzymes FADH2, NADH+H+,NADPH+H+ and their reduced formes. Forinstance, enzymes react NAD+ with food molecules containing C-H bonds to form NADH and H+.
