It is elongated and have thicker walls and are usually arranged in strands; provide support and situated in a region that is growing.Collenchyma divides into 4 types: lacunar collenchyma (with intracellular spaces), tangential collenchyma (thickening occurs at the inner and outer tangential walls), angular collenchyma (thickening at the contant point between cells) and annular collenchyma.
