Hexokinase is an important enzyme in the metabolism of glucose. If the concentration of hexokinase in our eukaryotic cell is 20 um, how many glucose molecules are present per hexokinase molecule?
As the concentration of glucose in a cell equals approximately 1 mM, the ratio of glucose/hexokinase is 1 mM/0.02 mM = 50 : 1. As a result, one molecule of hexokinase would convert 50 molecules of glucose.
