You are driving your new taxi cab at the highway. Suddenly, an ambulance speeds off your way at 100km/hr. counter flowing from the usual path and is 30 meters away from you. You glanced at your speedometer and found out your instantaneous speed is 60 km/hr. You must react quickly at split-second to avoid accident. What could be the best thing to do?
The best thing to do would be firmly but not rapidly hitting your brake pedal to prevent the car from skidding. The reason for this is that coefficient of static friction (when your wheels do not slip) is greater than the coefficient of kinetic (or sliding) friction, when your wheels slip along the road.
