Universities should take measures to assist first-year students in bridging the gap between school and university life. It ensures that they adapt to university life and merit in their academic performance. One of the best measures to conduct the research is the quantitative methodology. According to Price (2019), the quantitative method is a set of strategies and techniques of data collected through measures, such as questionnaires and surveys to study social and psychological processes through numeric data exploration.

One of the best measures is the questionnaire. A questionnaire is a series of questions that follows a fixed scheme to gather information for a statistical study (Brace, 2018). Questionnaires could be in different forms, such as online, face-to-face, open-ended, or close-ended. A university is a facility that entails many first-year students. Therefore, applying questionnaires as a measure would be relevant since it would be quick and efficient to gather extensive data.

The university would also use surveys to conduct the statistical research for first-year students. A survey is a quantitative methodology that entails data collection from respondents through their questions (Robinson and Leonard, 2018). In this case, surveys would examine the first-year students’ thoughts, opinions, and feelings to link the difference between school and university life. Thus, it would gain efficient knowledge in the research and assist the first-year students in linking the disparity between school and university life.
