Jacques Ellul (1912 - 1994) is a professor of history of law and French sociologist.He is, along with Habermas, Heidegger, Simondon, Leroi-Gourhan and Günther Anders, one of the leading thinkers of the twentieth century of technology. He was also particularly quoted by the American social critic Neil Postman, especially in his book The Technopoly.In parallel with his pioneering work on the description and analysis of the "technician system", Ellul conducted a work on the phenomenon of propaganda in modern societies with his master . Ellul, who died in 1994, was the author of a series of books on technological philosophy, starting with “The Technological Society,” which was first published in France in 1954 and then translated into English a decade later.
