I would start my investigation by first copying the message and screenshot it from the social media platform. I will investigate if mother had created the message herself or it was genuinely in the in-box of that 15 year old girl. I will investigate the the account server of the sender to determine if the received message was altered.

If it is verified that the message where the messages were sent is original then the address of the sender will also be recovered with the recovery of the account. The address is traced so it is easy to reach to the sender and then further investigation about why the unknown person was motivating to low self-esteem, and her performance dropping significantly.
