According to functionalists, what do schools provide for learners that families cannot provide?
Schools teach socialisation since students are able to interact with others bringing solidarity among children and thus the society as a whole. They also teach adherence to societal laws unlike homes since schools have their own by-laws and students grow up learning to follow rules making it easier for them to abide to laws of society later in their live as citizens.
Schools also help create social networks for students some of which last for lifetimes. Besides, university education provides a ground for children to get an experience of teal social issues giving them hardskin and thereby increasing their survival chances emotionally and even socially.
