Characteristics of bureaucratic organization

1. A clear hierarchy

Every worker in the organization has his or her place to be, that is, a chain of order. Power flows downwards.

2. Specialization

Each worker has a specific job in the organization.

3. Division of labor.

Work is broken into different parts and every worker works on a given portion of work.

4.Rules.

There are specific rules and regulations which guide members of the organization.

5. Services.

There are specific services that a bureaucratic organization deals in. Therefore, they have definite functions.

6. Location

There is a defined place where a bureaucratic organization operates, that is, a bureaucratic can only operate in a region it is designated to operate in.
